Erin, Tony and Ellen. This weekend we attendend a memorial service for Norman Christensen. It was upbeat with many expressions of thanks for his life. Here are some of the pictures.
We drove to Charleston today. We took a city tour and then a trip to Fort Sumter. You have to give credit to the Carolinians for the resistance they put up. It wasn't until the Union troops came up with cannons that could send shells 7 miles and then explode on impact that changed the course. The Union troops literally flattened Charleston and the Confederates couldn't do anything to stop them. War is ugly.
We stopped at the visitor center yesterday. We thought there would be tours and displays but when I spoke with the Marine in charge, he wanted to know which marine I had come to visit. Opps. There was a museum about two blocks away so we went to it. It was a very complete display of training and the conflicts that they served in. Later we walked the beach and I even walked among all the clams exposed by the low tide.
We are exploring Hilton Head Area. Yesterday we drove to Savannah and took a day tour. We finished eating at Paula Deans Restaurant. I'm not familiar with her but Karen and Tinker watch her TV Program so we ate there- Hi Ya'all. Here are some pictures.
